QA Level 3 Paediatric Emergency First Aid (QCF)

Who is it for?

This is for individuals who care for children either as a child minder, au pairs, pre school workers, parents etc...  This is NOT an Ofsted approved certificate. However it is half of the approved course. If you wish to take the full Ofsted approved course you will need the QA Level 2 Paediatric First Aid. This course will certificate you for 3 years.

Duration: 1 Day Course

What you will learn?

• Understanding the role of the First Aider, including use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions.
• Understanding the importance of basic hygiene in first aid procedures.
• Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure.
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock.
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
• Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries.
• This is centered around young children and babies.

There are practical assessments and written assessments throughout the course. Successful students will receive a 3 year certificate (The HSE and all first aid training providers now recommend an annual refresher of 3-4 hours. This is not mandatory.
